Building Effective Workplace Cultures in a World of Shifting Employee Expectations
The global pandemic, together with the recent social upheaval, increasing societal polarization and what an MIT/Sloan study calls “context collapse,” have all conspired to up the ante for businesses and their leaders. Trends are clear: People not only want to work for companies with inclusive workplace cultures and whose values align with their personal values. They also increasingly expect leaders to role model and extend those values and practices to the broader society. In this session, Cheryl Fields Tyler and Jeanne Meister will share surprising insights from a just-released joint research study, in which business leaders, HR leaders and knowledge workers identify the key factors needed for an effective workplace culture, and how they think their organizations are measuring up in each of these areas. They will also explore the challenges employees are experiencing, what companies must consider if they are to attract and retain committed, happy employees, and innovative ways leaders are responding to employee expectations at work — and from work.

The Role of Resilience in the Hybrid Workplace
Resilience plays a key role in the hybrid work world. A more resilient workforce is one that is more open to change, has the agility to embrace a new way of working, and better handles the stress that uncertainty produces. As Jan Bruce, CEO and co-founder of meQuilibrium says in Forbes, “Managing now includes new aspects of physical and psychological safety alongside new business models, new financial constructs, and the opportunity for what feels like a fresh start, where we’re beholden to fewer legacy approaches and policies than ever. It’s a time of change and change and resilience are now inseparable partners.” This session will feature HR leaders who will share what their commitment to employee wellbeing means in the context of hybrid work: a more dispersed workforce, greater reliance on digital tools, the need to predict wellbeing risks, and the need to ensure employees feel safe. Including: The various ways companies are building wellbeing and resilience practices in place to reinforce a company’s commitment to support all employees from frontline essential workers to knowledge workers; The unique challenges to employee wellbeing and mental health, and the impact on employee resilience; The growing expectation of employees to work for an employer that focuses on and believes in their wellbeing.

The HR Business Partner R(Evolution): Creating Greater Strategic Value for the Organization
The HR Business Partner role is ripe for change. In the past, HR transformation has largely focused on leveraging technology to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of HR offerings. Now, as organizations and their HR functions have entered a period of “new normal”, HR Business Partners can not merely support business goals, instead they must take a leadership position to enable, drive, and be the catalyst for driving strategic initiatives of the business. As evidence of this massive change, forward-looking HR functions have created a number of new HR job roles including Global Head of Employee Experience, AI For HR Data Scientist, and Future of Work Leader, all profiled in the HBR article authored by Jeanne Meister and Robert Brown, 21 HR Jobs of the Future. By contrast, the role of the HR Business Partner has largely focused on providing “one size fits all solutions”, and current training has often focused on developing general business, financial, and HR process administration skills. With massive change escalating the importance and the role of HR Business Partner, incumbents and the next generation of HR Business Partners must acquire a new set of skills and capabilities. Join Michael Martin and Jenny Wich to learn about the future of the HRBP.

21 HR Jobs of the Future Alumni Panel
The coronavirus has led to titanic shifts in where we work, how we work and the technologies we use to stay connected to each other. These changes are escalating the importance of HR’s role in the organization and presents the opportunity for HR to take a leadership role in navigating the future of work and understanding the changing nature of work, workers and the need for closing critical skill gaps. Some organizations are being proactive by creating totally new HR job roles to address this expanded scope of HR. Based on the HBR article 21 HR Jobs of the Future co-authored by Jeanne Meister, Managing Partner, Future Workplace, and Robert Brown, Vice President, Cognizant Center for the Future of Work, this session will profile some of the leaders holding these newly created roles and how they are meeting the demand for re-imagining jobs for both humans and machines, ensuring wellbeing and resilience as a business mandate, and incorporating data insights into solving business problems. This panel of the Future Workplace Academy online course alumni from 21 HR Jobs of the Future will be moderated by Megan Leasher, Chief Solutions Strategist, Talent Plus, Inc., and will focus on: Key talents & capabilities that run across new HR jobs; Drivers for the creation of these new HR job roles; Skills and mindsets needed for success in these newly created HR job roles; Future of HR in a post coronavirus workplace.
